Kolar Gold Fields, May 24 (UNI) Tension prevailed in the town over the issue of the delivery of postal ballots in relations to Karnataka assembly elections held for Kolar Gold Field (KGF) assembly seat, which were sent through private courier operator to the election authorities.
JD(S) which has raised objections over accepting of the ballot papers sent through private courier insisted not to take account of it. The postal ballot papers should be send through postal authorities and not courier services rendered by private operators.
However BJP workers who found no fault in accepting the ballot papers sent through private courier operators were demanding the returning officer to accept it.
The rift between JD(S) and BJP activists over the issue of ballot papers sent through privte courier forced the intervention of the state who have seized the courier bundles and disbursed the rival party workers.
It was estimated that there may be 350 ballot papers in 10 bundles.
The polling for KGF (Reserved) constitutency was held in the first phase on May 10.
