No terrorists, naxal incidents in Kerala: Home Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, May 24 (UNI) Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today said there were no incidents of terrorist and naxal activities reported in the state so far.
However, necessary instruction has been given to his department to keep a close vigil on coastal areas, he told newspersons, here.
Mr Balakrishnan said the Home Department had taken all the reports about extremist activities very seriously and asked the state intelligence department to observe the movements of extremist organisations.
Stating that the monitoring of coastal areas would be strengthened, the Home Minister said eight coastal police stations would start functioning soon in the state.
Though the Centre had given permission to start the police stations, due to the non availability of equipment, including speed boat, it could not be started soon.
However, following discussions with Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil during his recent visit to Delhi in this regard the Union Minister agreed for one speed boat on rental for Neendakara coastal station, he added.
