Mandya, Karnataka, May 24 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna today said the new Government should rethink on the ban on sale of arrack in the state.
Speaking to presspersons, after participating in a private ceremony here, he said ''in the light of the recent hooch tragedy which claimed more than 137 lives, the state Government should rethink on the ban on sale of arrack.'' With just 24 hours left for the announcement of the Assembly election results, Mr Krishna expressed confidence that the Congress party would muster simple majority and form the Government.
In case of an Hung Assembly, the party top leaders would decide the future course of action, he added.
On the aspirant for the Chief Minister post if the Congress comes to power, Mr Krishna said the party's foremost priority was to bring back the Congress into power in the state. Who will be the Chief Minister would be selected by the party High Command and party Legislators, he added.
