Kodagu geared up for counting
Madikeri May 24: The district administration is geared up for counting of votes to decide the political fortune of 16 candidates whose ballots are locked in the strong room.
Elaborate security arrangement was made in and around counting centre St Josephs Convent. Prohibitory orders are promulgated around the centre.
District Election Officer K R Niranjan and Superintendent of Police Sandip Kumar told UNI that vehicular movement near the counting centre was barred. Entry of public is barred to the area and they will be stopped about 200 meters from the centre.
Candidates, their agents, pass holders, concerned officials will only be allowed to the counting places.
Public can assemble near the Convent ground and listen to the result being announced through the mike.
Sale of liquor is also banned on May 25.
