KKR to go all out for a win against Punjab

By Staff

Kolkata, May 24 (UNI) Relegated Kolkata Knight Riders will go all out against Kings X1 Punjab to register a win in the last match at Eden Gardens tomorrow.

'' I have given full freedom to my boys to go all out and if we can inflict a defeat on the second spot holders Punjab in our last match, it will be very satisfying, '' coach John Buchanan told a news conference today.

On Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar's chance of playing in the last match, Buchanan said his nagging injury on knee was still a point of consideration.

Akhtar was in the training session today but he was apparently limping as he was nursing knee injury. His knee was covered with a bandage.

Buchanan admitted that many issues will have to be reviewed for the next season like choosing players, extensive travel and timing of practice.

Consideration for choosing players for the next season will be such that players could stay all along with the team, the coach said.

On Sourav Ganguly and Shah Rukh Khan controversy over team combination as reported in some media, Buchanan said it was unfounded and had no basis. Rather the reports helped players unit further, Buchanan said.

The former Australian coach was full of praise for Laxmi Ratan Shukla and wicketkeeper-batsman W Saha.
