Shimla, May 24 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh is exploring possibilities for the setting up of Swami Ramdev's Yog Peeth to exploit the existing herbal potential of the state for manufacturing of ayurvedic medicines.
This was stated by state Health Minister Rajiv Bindal, who called on Swami Ramdev at Patanjali Yog Peeth at Haridwar today. The meeting was one in the series held earlier between Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and Swami Ramdev.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bindal said Swami Ramdev had shown interest in procuring the medicinal herbs available in the state for manufacturing ayurvedic medicines.
This would promote diversification of agricultural activities in the state, besides generating employment and self employment avenues to the educated unemployed youth of the state. It would also provide remunerative prices to the farmers for their herbal produce, he said.
Mr Bindal said with the setting up of a centre of Patanjali Yog Peeth in Himachal, ayurveda and yoga education would get an impetus and added that discussions were on for holding yoga classes for doctors and teachers.
It would also promote tourism activities in the state, he added.
