Government investigating 'jobs-on-chit' scam: Dhumal
Shimla, May 24 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) was investigating the''jobs-on-chit'' scam during the previous Congress government's tenure.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said all necessary documents were being collected in the ''jobs-on-chit scam'' to ensure that the case could withstand the ''scrutiny of the law''.
Mr Dhumal said the government would investigate all charges levelled against the previous government in its chargesheet presented to the state Governor V S Kokje last year.
The charges levelled by former tourism minister Vijai Singh Mankotia against the previous government would also be investigated, subject to availability of documentary evidence, he said.
''My government will not act in vengeance and take up every case of corruption on merit as per the law of the land,'' he added.
The Chief Minister said the Congress had also failed to convince the people of the state as to the reasons for its defeat in the last assembly elections and added that the performance of the present four -month- old BJP government was better than the five-year tenure of the previous government.
The government, during its four-month rule, took decisions for the benefit of every section of the society, he said.
Mr Dhumal also refuted the claims of the previous government on carbon credits and other issues, saying it was misleading the people of the state.
He said his government had also urged the Centre to lift the ban on issuing new LPG connections in the state, besides continuing with the rice allotment quota for the Above Poverty Line (APL) families under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
