Five kids drown in Muran dam in Orissa
Jeypore, Orissa, May 24 (UNI) Five children were drowned in the Muran dam of Indravati river as a country boat ferrying them caught in a hailstorm and capsized yesterday.
Police today said only one body has so far been retrieved from the Dam while efforts are on to trace the other bodies.
The mishap took place when eight kids, all in the age group of 10 to 12 years, were returning from Karlaghat after attending a local jatra festival.
The boat suddenly caught in the hailstorm and capsized in the Muran dam. Four children were swept away in the string current of the water.
The locals could manage to rescue four others but one of them died while being taken to the shore. The three others had been admitted to a local hospital, police said.
