First day in BIA smooth, 341 air movements handled
Bangalore, May 24 (UNI) The startup team of Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) today reported that the first eighteen hours of day one operations at the airport had been satisfactory.
BIA marked operational at 0015 hrs last night with the take-off Air India Flight IC 957 to Singapore.
By the end of the day, the new airport will have handled 341 air traffic movements, including 172 arrivals and 159 departures.
Promoters Bangalore International Airports Ltd (BIAL) denied rumors that there was disruption of ATC services in the morning and said this was not true.
Concerns on the much debated distance to the Airport were cast away by many passengers, who gave positive testimonials, following their arrival at the Airport.
The on-ground Transport offered by BMTC was an instant hit with passengers, as several people were seen using and appreciating the service.
''Besides initial teething problems, the take-off was smooth. We will iron out these within a week of operations,'' reported BIAL, in a press statement here.
