CPI(M) destroying Zilla Parishad records: Mamata
Kolkata, May 24 (UNI) Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today accused the CPI(M)-led Left Front of ''attempting to tamper'' with the records and files of the Zilla Parishads after losing power in the Panchayat elections.
'' We have received an information that in the wake of losing several Zilla Parishads to the Opposition, the ruling party is trying to destroy records and files, particularly those relating to the monetary transactions, '' Ms Banerjee told newspersons here.
She said, '' We have also received reports that the Hooghly Zilla Parishad held a meeting after the results to take over the power of mutation of lands in Singur from the Panchayat Samity. '' '' The ruling party's attempt to destroy the records and files are grossly irregular and we will not allow it to happen, '' Ms Banerjee added.
'' Yesterday we have submitted a memorandum to Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and urged him to investigate the above allegations and issued instructions to all the DMs, SDOs and BDOs to ensure that the records are not tampered with, '' She stated.
