3 killed in police firing to disperse Gujjar protestors in Dausa
Jaipur, May 24 (UNI) At least three people were killed and some others injured when police opened fire to disperse a mob of Gujjar protestors at Sikandara in Dausa district of Rajasthan this afternoon.
According to official reports, police opened fire when other routine means, including use of tear gas and rubber pellets, proved ineffective in controlling the situation.
The mob, which was staging a 'Raasta Roko', suddenly turned violent and resorted to stone pelting. It also attacked the police, the sources said.
At least 15 people were killed and several others injured in police firing and violence in Bharatpur district yesterday during an agitation staged by Gujjars seeking ST status for the community.
The Army has been called in to assist the civil administration in the state.
