Tinsukia, May 23: A 17-year-old insurgency operation of the Assam police ended successfully today with arrest of ULFA top leader Suren Bora, who left police service in 1991 to be the outfit's logistic expert.

According to police sources, Bora had been living with a fake identity at Passighat in Arunachal Pradesh since past one decade and operating out of that place.

''He was responsible for all logistics of the ULFA in upper Assam, specially its 28th battalion,'' police said adding that he was tracked down from Passighat.

Eight electric detonators, two mobiles and some cash were recovered from him.

Police further added that Bora deserted police with some weapons of Assam Police armoury.
