MHA video conferencing bid to tackle naxalite problem
Lucknow, May 23 (UNI) In a quite unusual way, a senior Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) official today addressed senior level police officials across the country through video conferencing to discuss the growing naxalite problem.
Special secretary, MHA, M L Kumawat addressed senior police officials across the country, discussed extortion and advised them of ways to tackle the increasing naxalite menace, official sources told UNI here.
In Uttar Pradesh, the video conferencing was done with Additional Director General of Police (ADG) (crime, law and order and STF) Brij Lal, Inspector General of Police (IG) (Law and order) Bhanu Pratap Singh and other senior level policemen.
This initiative of video conferencing was taken at the level at the Centre recently to address the naxalite problem, which has infested about a dozen states in the country.
Mirzapur, Chandauli and Sonebhadra districts are the naxalite affected districts of UP.
Recent reports had suggested that naxalites were now trying to increase their base in other parts of the state also.
