Pune, May 23 (UNI) Manju Bala of Gujarat rewrote National record in hammer throw event on the second day of the National Federation Cup Junior and Youth Athletics Championship here today.
In Under-20 section, Manju threw the hammer to a distance of 52.26m to erase seven year old mark of 49.55m set by Archana Brar.
Meanwhile, Gunjan Singh (43.85m) of Uttar Pradesh and Poornima Nivangune (33.30m) of Maharashtra finished second and third respectively.
Kanika Kumari of Delhi also set a new meet record in the girls under-18 category final with a 48.08m hammer throw.
Harayana's Reena Kumari (44.45m) and Gujarat's Suman Kumari (35.40m) were second and third respectively.
Yesterday, shot putter Manpreet Kaur of Punjab smashed another girls' under-20 national record with a massive throw of 15.44m.
