Srinagar, May 23 : The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has initiated a massive drive to fill up 16,000 vacant posts in different departments in Srinagar and other administrative districts.

The posts to be filled include village level workers, multi purpose workers, drivers, teachers, junior clerical assistants, laboratory assistants, library assistants, X-ray assistants, health educators, librarians, sanitary inspectors and junior stenographers and information officers.

The administrative officers in all the concerned departments have been directed to notify all the vacancies to the Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) for recruitment on a fast track basis.

Meanwhile, the SSRB has invited applications from unemployed youngsters to fill 6, 299 vacancies in health, education, rural development, revenue and a few other departments in almost all the districts of the State.

Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Health, Labour and Employment Mangat Ram Sharma said the recruitment will be done in a very short span of time at the district level.

"This decision was taken during the discussion in cabinet meeting and I hope that we will see a substantial progress in this direction next month in June itself and it is also possible that the fast recruitment will start this month only. Every district will have an independent board, which will interview the youth. The interview procedure will get over in a day or two and the results will be announced very soon," said Sharma.

A job aspirant, Umar Hakeem said, "I have come here because the Service Selection Board has invited applications to fill the posts. This time the recruitment procedure is going on in every district because job applications have been opened for Kashmir Division. So I have come here to fill the form. This is very good step taken by the J and K Government under Ghulam Nabi Azad's rule as Chief Minister. It's a golden period and a good step in the history that so much of vacancies have been opened."

"I want that every Government, whoever comes in power, whether it's Azad's or someone else's Government, to provide employment opportunities for the youths on a very fast pace," added Mohammed Yousuf Kaloo, another job aspirant.
