Congress will form govt with simple majority: Kharge
Bangalore, May 23 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Mallikarjuna Kharge today exuded confidence that his party would get a simple majority to form the next government in the State.
Talking to reporters here, he said the Congress would definitely cross 110 seats and come to power with a simple majority. His statement was based on the feedback he had received from the party network and local people.
Mr Kharge criticised the opinion and exit polls conducted by various television channels, which favoured the BJP ahead of the Congress, and said one does not know the criteria they adopted.
''They are far from the ground reality,'' he said.
Stating that more than 20 per cent of genuine voters had been denied their voting right this time due to various mistakes, he urged the Election Commission to take proper action to avoid such situations in future elections.
Regarding the hooch tragedy, he said the officials at the top level should be held responsible and suspended for their negligence.
There was a need to introduce a new excise policy to stop such tragedies in future in the state.
