Dantewara, Chhattisgarh, May 23 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani today alleged that the Centre was not assisting in dealing with naxalism in Chhattisgarh.
Mr Advani, who was here to flag off the 'Vikas Yatra', told reporters that the problem of naxalism was persisting in the state due to inadequate support from the Centre.
He said dialogue should be initiated with naxals only if a change was seen in their attitude. ''A dialogue should not be started in haste in view of upcoming state assembly elections.'' Stressing on the need for constituting a permanent committee to tackle naxalism, Mr Advani said the BJP would implement it upon coming to power at the Centre.
Condemning the serial blasts that rocked Jaipur recently, he advocated strict legislation such as the Prevention of Terrorism Act to deal with the menace.
