2 lakh pilgrims visit Shiv Khori Shrine in Reasi

Jammu, May 23: Around two lakh pilgrims visited and paid obeisance at the historic Shiv Khori Shrine Cave in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir since January 1, 2008 to till date, official sources said here today.

This month heavy rush of devotees is being witnessed at the shrine as over 27,000 pilgrims have already visited the shrine and an average of 1400 to 1500 devotees are visiting the shrine cave daily, they said.

''After holy cave of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, situated in Trikuta Hills of Reasi district, Shiv Khori is emerging as the second largest pilgrimage destination for the devotees from all over the country,'' an official source told UNI.

However, Shiv Khori Shrine Board has made all efforts to provide all possible facilities to the pilgrims while number of development works are in progress, they said asserting, ''tourism reception centre has also been set up at village Ransoo, the base camp of Shiv Khori Shrine Cave while buses and light vehicles are available from Jammu, Katra and Reasi for onward journey to the cave.''
