Another tough test ahead for Dhoni's Kings, against Royals

By Staff

Chennai, May 23 (UNI) It will be another pressure cooker situation for chennai super kings skipper MS Dhoni in their DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) contest against the table leaders the Shane Warne led the Rajasthan Royals at the M A Chidambaram stadium here tomorrow.

Under pressure to make it to the semis, following their upset defeat, from a winning position, against the lowly placed Bangalore Royal Challengers on Wednesday last here, the Super Kings, one of the favourites to win the first IPL T20 cup, have placed themselves in a piquant situation.

And predictably, out of respect for their rivals, Rajasthan team captain, Aussie leg spin legend Shane Warne told newspersons that his squad would not take the Super Kings battling spirit lightly.

''They are desperate to win to reach the semi finals and we cannot afford to experiment much with them tomorrow'', Warne said.

The Royals were the first team to qualify for the semis, sitting pretty at the top of the table with 18 points and a favourable run rate.

But after the defeat against team Bangalore, Super Kings were to find their task of forcing a semi final berth difficult. They could go through to the last four stage only if Delhi Daredevils lose against Mumbai Indians. The net run rate would come into play if Team Delhi and Team Mumbai win their remaining games and Chennai Super Kings do not win their games against Team Rajasthan and Deccan Chargers, Hyderabad. And if Delhi win both their matche, Chennai must win one of their two matches. The Delhi team suffered a set back getting only one point out of the rain marred match against Kolkata, who bowed out of the league.

''We don't want to wait till the last match against Deccan. We are keen to make it to the semi finals against Rajasthan itself,'' Dhoni said, ruing his team's predicament.

While the Royals had a knock at the nets in the morning, the Super Kings were at the nets in the evening.
