17 militants surrender in Assam
Guwahati, May 23: As many as 17 hardcore militants, including ULFA and Naga rebels, today laid down arms at the Dinajan Army base in Assam's Tinsukia district.
The surrendered militants included 12 ULFA militants, who were led by 'captain' Jiwan Bora of the outfit's '27th battalion', the main strike force of the ULFA.
Three members of the Karbi Longri NC Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF) and one member each of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and NSCN (IM) also laid down their arms today.
The militants deposited one rifle, two guns, 10 pistols, one revolver, three grenades, seven magazine and 54 assorted ammunition.
