New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) Venezuela has expressed keenness to step up cooperation with India in agriculture and agricultural research, science and technology, pharmaceuticals and generic medicines, infrastructure and information technology.
The keenness was expressed by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez during his meeting with Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma when the latter visited Venezuela from May 18-20, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said today.
A road map for enhancing strategic cooperation between the two countries in various sectors such as agriculture, and energy and renewable energy was also discussed.
Both sides agreed to convene the next India-Venezuela Joint Commission meeting here later this year.
Earlier, Mr Sharma had discussions with Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro on setting up an alternative financial and monetary architecture mechanism through institutions such as the Bank of South and UNASUR.
Besides meetings with local dignitaries, Mr Sharma also interacted with a cross-section of the non-resident and community of Indian origin in Venezuela.
