Tata teleservices to invest Rs 140 cr in AP

Vijayawada, May 22: Tata teleservices would invest Rs 140 crore in the current financial year to expand its services in the state, company's Andhra Pradesh Circle Operating Officer (COO) S Ramakrishna said today. Addressing the mediapersons here, he said the expansion would result in Tata Indicom offering services in 169 towns, taking its overall coverage in the state to 580 towns by September 2008. The company would offer integrated telecom solutions to its customers under the Tata Indicom brand and use the latest CDMA 3g 1x technology for its wireless network, he added.

He said the company had already invested Rs 3,000 crore in the state in the last ten years to provide quality telecom services to the customers. The Tata Indicom services has more than 2.5 crore subscribers through out the country including 25.50 lakh users in the state, he claimed.

''Our growth in customer acquisition has gained momentum in recent times and today we are recognised as the fastest growing telecom service provider,'' he added.

Mr Ramakrishna said the Tata Indicom was ranked as the best telecom service provider in Andhra Pradesh, by the Banglore-based independent telecom research agency award solutions.
