Chennai, May 22 (UNI) The Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) and ''Study Abroad'' will jointly organise ''Days of Russian Higher Education in India'' within the framework of the Year of Russia in India.
A Russian Education Fair would be inaugurated by the Chennai Corporation Mayor M Subramaniam in the presence of Mr Vadislav V Antanyuk, Consul General of the Russian Federation to South India here on May 24, Mr Stanislav I Simakov said addressing a press conference.
A high-level Russian delegation representing about ten higher educational institutions would participate in the 'Seminar and Education Fair' to be held on May 24 and 25, he said.
Apart from Chennai, the Fair would also be organised in other major cities of the country, he said, adding the delegation would visit Coimbatore and Hyderabad on May 26 and 27 and Mumbai on May 28 and 29.
Counselling and spot admission would also be held for aspiring students to enable them to get admission to the recognised Medical and Engineering universities in Russia, he said.
The students would be given presentations on different topics on Russian higher education by participating Russian Educational Institutions such as Tver State Medical Academy, Volgograd State Medical University, Moscow State Financial Academy, Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University), Moscow Aviation Institute, Tomsk State Polytechnic University, Rostov State Medical University and Stavropol State Medical University.
As part of the fair, a seminar, ''Russian-Indian Inter-University Cooperation in South India: Scope and Perspectives,'' would be held with the participation of Russian Universities and Academies with leading Academicians from India here on May 24, Mr Simakov said.
The standard of higher education in Russia, was considered to be one of the most advanced and high in the world, facilitated by faculties of the universities comprising highly qualified scientists and professors, he claimed.
The cost of higher education in Russia is much cheaper than in the countries such as the US and the UK. At present most of the Russian Universities also provide the medium of instruction in English, he added.
