Malkangiri, May 22 (UNI) The movement of vehicular traffic was seriously affected as the Naxalites resorted to road blockades at badly places in the district, protesting the killing of their two comrades in police encounter on Sunday.
Malkangiri Superintendent of Police S K Gojbhiye today said no untoward incident was reported during the four-day road blockade, called by the Malkangiri Divisional committee of the Naxalites.
The naxalites, he said, had blocked the road at several many places between Malkangiri-Motu, Malkangiri-Orkel and Malkangiri- Chitrakonda.
Police, however, cleared the Malkangiri-Motu and Malkangiri-Orkel road, he said.
The vehicular movement had been paralysed on the Malkangiri- Chitrakonda road, which was yet to be cleared.
The SP, said efforts were on to clear the road by tomorrow.
The Naxalites, had also destroyed the BSNL line at many places, besides and distributing posters and leaflets highlighting their demands, he added.
The SP said the Left wing ultras had demanded a ban on the use of Andhra Pradesh Greyhound police, withdrawal of CRPF from the area and police action, besides an immediate halt on the encounter against the comrades fighting for the benefit of the poor people.
