Mukesh Ambani presented 'Chitralekha Person of the Year' award
Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani was awarded the ''Chitralekha Person of the Year Award -- 2007'' by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at a function here.
Speaking at the function held yesterday, Mr Modi lauded Mr Ambani for carrying forward the rich legacy of late Dhirubhai Ambani.
''Dhirubhai had contributed immensely to the Indian industry and came out with IPOs much before the era of liberalisation,'' Mr Modi observed.
Mr Mukesh Ambani, speaking on the occasion, stressed the need to transform rural India through use of technology.
Mr Ambani also praised Mr Modi's leadership, saying, ''I respect Mr Modi deeply as he believes in action. India needs more leaders like him.'' Mukesh Ambani's mother Kokilaben was also present on the occasion.
The Chitralekha Group had instituted the award in 2005 and Mr Modi was its first recipient. The award in its second year, was presented to former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam.
