New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) India and Brunei today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the fields of culture, arts and sports, aimed at giving a fillip to exchanges between the cultural and sports institutions of the two countries.
Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni and Brunei's Foreign Affairs and Trade-II Minister Pehin Dato Lim Jock Seng initialled the MoU, which will be valid for a period of five years and has a provision of automatic renewals.
Under the MoU, a Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) is to be constituted for carrying out the provisions of the agreement. The JCC will meet alternately in Brunei and India.
India's cultural interactions with Brunei have remained somewhat limited in the past as there was no agreement between the two countries.
Ms Soni said the signing of the MoU would give an impetus to the bilateral cultural relations.
