Jammu, May 22 (UNI) A civilian was killed in exchange of firing between police and militants in the Kandi area of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, official sources today said.
The civilian, identified as Mohammad Lateef, 35, of village Hubi Kalar in Kandi, got trapped in crossfire between militants and police at Kaintha Neel chowk near village Ans late last evening, the sources said.
Lateef was critically wounded in the firing and later scummbed to his injuries, the sources said, adding that the body was sent to the hospital for a post-mortem.
The militants, however, managed to escape while security forces were conducting search operations in the area, they said.
