Air Force not involved in anti-infiltration, Air Marshal

Srinagar, May 22 (UNI) Ruling out involvement of Air Force in anti-infiltration or anti-militancy operations, Air Marshal P K Barbora, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command today said the IAF only provided information about militant movements.

He said Air Force never gets involved in the operations against the militants and infiltrators.

''The Air Force only provides real time information of whereabouts of militants to security forces to incorporate in their operations'' Air Marshal Barbrora told reporters here today.

He said the main purpose of his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir was to familiarise himself with training, preparedness and to meet Air Force personnel.

During his stay here, he visits Srinagar and Awantipora Air Force stations where he was briefed on the various plans and achievements by Air Commodore Arun Joshi and Group Captain VR Chaudhari.

The Air Marshal inspected all the units and sections of Air Force stations during his visit.

The Air Marshal urged the personnel to give their best to the organization as the nation has great expectations from Indian Air Force (IAF).

He urged the air warriors to take pride in themselves as the IAF is now a aero space power and one of the leading Air Forces of the world.

The Air Marshal appreciated the hard work put in by all personnel of this station in spite of extremely difficult living conditions of this station.

Air Marshal also informed that the Advance Landing Ground (ALG) at Daulat Baig Oldi in Ladakh is being made functional by Air Force.

He assured that Air Force in Jammu and Kashmir is always ready to provide assistance in maintaining connectivity and rescue operations during snow disturbance and flood relief.
