Mumbai, May 21 (UNI) Exhorting the Congress activists to launch counter offensive attack against divisive politics, the Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane today alleged that Shiv Sena working president Uddhav Thackeray and his cousin, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray were using the Marathi plank for their 'personal' gains.
Addressing a function here, to mark 17th death anniversary of late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Mr Rane said the party activists should take Thackeray brothers head-on to protect the non-Marathis.
''Thackeray private Limited has been encashing the sentiments of Marathi people by provoking them against north Indians for the last four decades,'' he said, adding that Thackeray brothers do not have the vision for growth and prosperity of people.
The minister urged the youth to work for the revival of the Youth Congress, the way Rajiv Gandhi did and convert this into a vehicle of socio-political change. He also distributed wheel-chairs and tri-cycles to the handicapped on the occasion.
The function was organised in the city's western suburb of Goregaon, by Mumbai Youth congress, of which Mr Rane's son Nilesh Rane is the General Secretary.
