Suspected ultras loot Rs 5 cr, gold worth Rs 2 cr
Ranchi, May 21 (UNI) Taking the guards of a temple at Deori by surprise, suspected MCCI ultras today drove away their vehicle which was carrying Rs five crore in cash and gold worth Rs two crore of ICICI bank.
The incident took place under Tamar police station,about 65 km from here, at about 1145 hrs.
A press statement issued by IG and police spokesperson R K Mullick said the incident occurred near the famous Deori temple, adding search was on to nab the culprits.
Mr Mullick said proscribed Maoist Communist Centre of India might be behind the loot.
According to reports reaching here, the van, carrying the cash and gold from Sakchi and Bistupur branch of ICICI in Jamshedpur, was bound for Ranchi.
As the van reached the temple, four guards, the driver and the cleaner stopped there to offer prayer when about five men with their faces covered boarded the vehicle and sped away from the spot.
