Strikes protesting killing by PLA paralyse life in capital
Kathmandu, May 21 (UNI) Educational institutions and markets remained closed and vehicular movement stopped today in Kathmandu valley due to the strike protesting the killing of a businessman Ram Hari Shrestha by People's Liberation Army (PLA) of the Maoists.
Relatives and well-wishers of late Shrestha's have been staging protest demonstrations in the capital since Friday condemning the CPN-Maoist for the incident.
Businessman Shrestha's murder took a mysterious turn after a doctor at Chitwan Medical College yesterday revealed that he died at hospital and not on the way to the capital as had been stated publicly by the Maoists, the local newspaper quoted the doctor as saying.
Shrestha was reportedly abducted, tortured and killed by PLA men at Shaktikhor cantonment in Chitwan district which is still under round-the-clock supervision by UNMIN.
