Singur woman makes her mark in North 24 Parganas panchayat polls
Barrackpore, May 21 (UNI) Tapasi Malik's ghost still haunts the CPI(M) not only in Singur, but also beyond it.
This has been reflected in the Panchayat elections in North 24 Parganas after Kabita Adak(30), a cousin of Tapasi Malik, won the Mohanpur panchayat seat of Barrackpore Block-II in North 24 Parganas on Trinamool Congress ticket.
She defeated her nearest CPI(M) rival by 110 votes.
Tapasi Mullick was allegedly burnt alive and later buried by rival CPI(M) activists during the anti-land acquisition movement in Singur last year.
