Nashik, May 21: Tension prevailed in Sinnar town of the district today after few miscreant stole Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's bust.
Shivaji's went missing in Kurane Lane of Sinnar town this morning. This created tension in the area. Angry over this, Shiv Sena activists from here demanded quick action against the culprits.
They also observed a 'Rasta Roko' agitation at Sangamner Naka, a juncture on Nashik-Pune and Nashik-Shirdi road.
Prima facie a rivalry between two political groups seemed to be the reason behind the incident. However, assurance of strict action by government officials eased the tension to some extent.
Meanwhile, police has beefed up security in the area to avoid any untoward incident. The situation was tense but under control till the last reports came in, sources said.
