Pak woman undertrial collapses and dies
Amritsar, May 21 (UNI) A middle aged Pakistani woman undertrial collapsed while being brought to the judicial courts complex from the Central Jail and later died here this afternoon.
According to police sources, Rashida Begum collapsed at the entrance of the Central Jail while she was being escorted alongwith two other Pakistani women undertrials to a van outside the prison premises. She was immediately rushed to the civil hospital by the police guards but was declared brought dead by the doctors at the hospital.
Rashida alongwith the other two women prisoners was arrested in 2006 at the Attari railway station and booked under the NDPS Act for possessing narcotics. The three were to appear before a judicial magistrate today in connection with the case.
The exact reason for the death would be known after the post mortem.
