New Delhi, May 21 (UNI) The National Geographic Channel Network, one of the world leaders in adventure, exploration and wildlife television, is extending its brand presence in India by introducing four new NAT Geo channels.
The new channels--Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Adventure, Nat Geo Music and Nat Geo HD(High-Definition) will soon be available in the country along with the core Nat Geo Channel that is already on air for the last 11 years.
''We want to extend the brandname to new audiences here, give them a new experience in TV watching, and our channels will be available at multiple platforms,'' said Mr Sydney Suissa, Executive Vice President-Content of NGC at a press conference here today.
Mr Suissa said the four channels were already available in other parts of the world and would be visible in India within weeks of getting official clearances.
''The programming on these channels will capture the attention of younger audiences eager to stretch the boundaries of their knowledge about the world they live in,'' he said.
Nat Geo Music will focus on local music in different parts of the world, and in fact it would be a celebration of world music and very different from conventional music offerings.
In reply to a question about Nat Geo Wild, he said the channel while focussing on the wildlife in their natural habitat, would integrate its content with today's pressing environmental concerns.
He said the decision to introduce Nat Geo HD has been taken in view of the fact that High Definition TV was going to be the broadcast technology of the future.
About Nat Geo Adventure, he said more than just a travel channel, Nat Geo Adventure will chronicle people whose life-changing travle experiences have transformed their approach towards seeing the world and themselves.
Mr Nikhil Mirchandani, managing director-South Asia, National Geographic Channel said the plan to launch the new Nat Geo Channels was in alignment with NGC network's stratgey to offer its viewers a compelling offering on DTH platform.
''As the broadcast environment evolves in the country, viewers will be looking for a bouquet of television offering that is suitable and rewarding for the entire family,'' he said.
