Thiruvananthapuram, May 21 (UNI) Chief Secretary-level talks between Kerala and Tamil Nadu will be held here on May 30 to find an amicable solution to the contentious issues relating to the sharing of water in the Sholayar Basin under the Parambikulam Aliyar Project Agreement (PAP).

Kerala Irrigation Minister N K Premachandran told newspersons here today the officials would discuss possibilities of reviewing the PAP Agreement.

Stating, Kerala was not getting the assured quantity of water under the agreement over the years, the minister said the state government had constituted a Special Task Force with senior officials from both Irrigation and Electricity Departments as members to prepare ground work for the talks.

The minister said the Task Force report would be placed before Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan for consideration before finalising the strategy to be adopted at the meeting.

Kerala was to get 7.25 tmcft of water in Chalakudy River Basin and 12.3 tmcft at Sholayar basin as per the PAP Agreement signed in 1970.
