Washington, May 21 : Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal has been roped in to play the lead role in 'Prince of Persia', a computer game inspired flick to be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

The 'Day After Tomorrow' star will be playing Dastan, a prince in sixth-century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

"He's a wonderful actor. He's someone I've been watching for a long time and somebody I've always wanted to work with," Variety quoted Bruckheimer, as saying.

'Quantum of the Solace' star Gemma Arterton will be seen playing the female lead.

The production of the film is expected to start in July in Morocco and London with 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' director Mike Newell.
