Srinagar, May 21 (UNI) Chairman of the Hurriyat Confernce (Mirwaiz) Moulvi Omar Farooq today invited the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan to hold talks on the Kashmir issue here.
''Let Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani hold talks in the Kashmir valley on the Kashmir issue,'' Mirwaiz said at a public meeting held at Eidgah grave yard on the 18th death anniversary of his father Mirwaiz Moulvi Mohammad Farooq.
He said similar meetings could also be held in other side of the Kashmir, Islamabad and New Delhi.
The Hurriyat chairman said there was United Nations resolution on Kashmir which had to be implemented.
However, he said, the people of Jammu and Kashmir were not against the dialogue process. But, he said, the process should be result oriented and meaningful.
''I promise on behalf of the Hurriyat Conference that nobody will be allowed to sell the freedom struggle,'' he said.
He criticised the authorities for banning the Pakistan news channels in Kashmir. This, he said, was an attempt to suppress the voice of people of the valley.
