Mumbai, May 21 (UNI) The Special MCOCA court today remanded gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli and ten others in police custody till May 30 in the Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar murder case.
The police moved an application seeking custody of Gawli and others, including Dinesh Narkar, Srikrishna Gurav alias Babu, Vijay Kumar Giri, Narendra Giri, Anil Giri, Ashok Jaiswal, Sahebrao Bhintude, Sadashiv Surve, Surendra Panchal and Sandeep Dongan. MCOCA court judge V G Joshi granted the custody till May 30.
Gawli, incidentally, has already been booked under MCOCA in another extortion case, and had been in police custody. Yesterday, he had been remanded in judicial custody till June 3 in that case.
Four people had earlier been arrested in connection with the murder of Jamsandekar last year. On their interrogation, the four had told the police that they had been given a ''supari contract)'' of Rs 60,000 to kill Jamsandekar by Gawli's associate and Akhil Bharatiya Sena member Srikrishna Gurav, alias Babu.
