Super Kings determined to win IPL cup: Srikkanth

By Staff

Chennai, May 20 (UNI) Former India captain Krishnamachari Srikanth exuded confidence that Chennai Super Kings would win the Indian Premier League (IPL) and lift the DLF cup.

Talking to newspersons after launching 'Aircel Golden Bat' contest here, he said Chennai Super Kings was the best balanced team in the League. The team is determined to win the T20 Cup, he added.

''We have a good balanced team. Both international and domestic players are performing well'', he added.

Asked who was the favourite to lift the DLF cup, he said ''it is difficult to predict who would lift the Cup. Right now, all the teams have gained momentum.'' On the chances of Chennai Super Kings entering the finals, he said international players such as Nitini and Morkel in the team had started performing exceptionally well in bowling and in the batting, local cricketers such as Vidyut and S Badhrinath are chipping in with impressive displays.

Asked why Royal Challengers, led by Rahul Dravid, have not been performing well, he said Royal Challengers did not start off well.

They lost the initial momentum.

When pointed out that hat-tricks were becoming common in IPL, he said, ''sometimes during the course of a match, teams were under pressure to step up the scoring and batsmen tend to get out. This increased the scope for a bowler to perform a hat-trick.'' Asked about the incident of security personnel at Eden Gardens in Kolkata not allowing franchise owner of Kolkat Night Riders team Shah Rukh Khan into the players arena, Srikkanth said the problem was sorted out and anyway the BCCI had clarified that it is not an issue.''Nothing more should be seen into it'', he opined.
