Lahore, May 20 : Dr Mimpal Singh has become the first Pakistani Sikh not only to successfully pass the examination of Diploma in Child Health (DCH), but also topped the examination conducted by the Services Institute of Medical Sciences.

Currently, Dr Singh works as a registrar at Mayo Hospital, and is also the president of Guru Nanak Jee Mission, a non-government organization (NGO) based in Lahore.

Dr Singh said he was the first Pakistani Sikh to get a distinction in DCH.

The Sikh community in Pakistan did not have access to such professional institutes because of a lack of quota system, and Sikhs could utilise their potential if they got opportunities, the Daily Times quoted Dr Singh as saying.

"The government can introduce such a system in medical colleges for the Sikh community," he added.
