New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) The rain gods today continued to shower their bounty on Delhiites, with overnight showers and thunderstorms plummeting mercury in the Capital city for the second consecutive day.

The rain and thundershowers brought down the minimum temperature, from 22.1 Degrees Celsius yesterday, to 20.8 degrees, six degrees below normal.

The showers, which followed a heavily overcast sky since yesterday, also kept the maximum temperature four degrees below normal at 35 Degrees.

A total of 7.3 mm of rain was recorded till 0830 hours while another 4.6 mm was recorded till 1700 hours, weathermen said.

The coolness in the weather is likely to persist till the weekend with weathermen forecasting more rain and thundershowers in the city in the next two to three days some of them accompanied with squall.

The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with the likelihood of rain and thundershowers accompanied by a squall in many areas.

Light to medium rain and thundershowers have lent coolness to the weather in the national capital since the weekend, providing much-needed relief for people from the scorching summer heat.
