Pondy: CM N Rangasamy flag off 'Jyoti Yatra

Puducherry, May 20: Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today flagged off the 'Jyoti Yatra'' on way to Rajiv Gandhi memorial at Sriperambadur on the eve of former Prime Minister's 17th death anniversary. The yatra undertaken by the Karnataka unit of the INTUC arrived here last night.

Paying rich tributes to Rajiv Gandhi, Mr Rangasamy said, ''it was Mr Gandhi, who strived hard for the economic development of the country on par with other developed nations and now Ms Sonia Gandhi was fullfilling the dreams of her late husband by evolving new schemes and executing them.

The Centre was taking steps to put an end to terrorism, Mr Rangasamy said and urged Congress workers to function unitedly to make India, one among the most developed nations in the world.

Ministers E Valsaraj, M Kandasamy, PCC President A V Subramanian and INTUC leader Ravichandran, participated in the function held at the Goubert Avenue here.

The Chief Minister also flagged off another yatra to Sripermabadur organised by the local unit of INTUC.
