Located 18 miles south east of Mount Kailash (the mythological abode of Lord Shiva), the circular lake Mansarovar or Tso Rinpoche (Precious lake )is a part of the 64-mile circuit undertaken by pilgrims.
Bathing in the Lake, or even sprinkling water from it on one's head is said to provide enormous spiritual benefit. Hindus making the trip are told to immerse themselves completely if they want to enter the celestial kingdom.
