New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) Indian players continued their disappointing run as four more of them ended their challenge on the second day of 50,000 dollars ATP Challenger at the DLTA complex here today.

The only Indians in the fray are Ashutosh Singh and Vishnu Vardhan who made it to the second round yesterday.

Ashutosh will take on fourth-seed Davis Cupper Go Soeda of Japan while Vardhan will face fifth-seeded Pakistani Aisam-ul-Haq Quereshi tomorrow.

In a rain-interrupted day, third-seeded Dane Kirsten Pless put an end to Indian Davis Cupper and a wildcard Harsh Mankad's challenge defeating him 6-4,6-2.

Mankad completely looked out of place as Pless broke the Indian's stemina making him run from one corner to another.

Mankad did not have any answers to Dane's power-packed serves but the Indian Davis Cupper fought hard to hold his serve till the 10th game before he succumbed to Pless' expertise and eventually handed him the first set.

In the second set, a pumped up Pless defied Mankad to take any advantage and forced him t make errors time and again.

The Dane broke the Indian twice inthe second set and that was enough for him take seal the match in his favour.

Meanwhile, Purav Raja made umpteen errors against the US-based Indian Rajiv Ram, to go down 1-6, 3-6.

Raja's fore-hand were of no use and his courtcraft was clumsy as he could do little to stop Ram from taking the lead in the first set.

In the other matches involving Indians, Japan's Soeda outplayed qualifier Tushar Liberhan 6-1,6-0 while second-seeded Giles Muller of Luxembourg was stretched to a tie-break in the first set by another qualifier Rohan Gide before winning 7-6 (2), 6-2.

However, in the doubles, Yuki Bhambri and Kamala Kannan beat Sriram Balaji and Sunil Kumar Sipaeya 6-4, 7-6(3) to move into the pre-quarterfinals.
