Hyderabad, May 18 (UNI) Mumbai Indians defeated Deccan Chargers by 25 runs, avenging their first round loss and posting a sixth win in a row in the DLF Indian Premier League here tonight.
After posting a challenging 178 for seven, Mumbai Indians wrapped the match, restricting Deccan Chargers to 153 for seven at the end of the stipulated 20 overs.
After a blistering 35 from 15 balls by Left-hander S Jayasuriya, Mumbai Indians were contained to 96 for four with Afridi claiming Sachin(23 from 19 balls) and D J Thornely(8) in quick succession.
A fighting 54-run off 30 balls fifth wicket partnership between Ahishek Nayar(38 three fours, two sixes) and D Bravo(30, two fours and two sixes) helped building a fighting total by Mumbai Indians despite 3/35 late innings spell by R P Singh, the highest wickettaker so far in the IPL tourney.
