Congress activists court arrest in Orissa

Bhubaneshwar,May 19 :Congress party activists,today staged agitation and courted arrest against the allegedly deteriorating law and order condition in Orissa.

Congress state unit member, Jaydev Jena alleged that the law and order had failed and demanded resignation of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

"This Biju Janata Dal government has no right to continue even for aoment. Total state is failing, there is no law and order situation, police is not in control of the Chief Minister," Jena said in Bhubaneshwar.

The agitation was organised by the provincial unit of the Congress party at all district headquarters.

Congress is the main opposition party in the state with 38 legislators in the47-member assembly.

The state has a coalition government of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It was voted to power in 2004 with BJD winning maximum of 61 seats.

Orissa is hit by Maoists activities and often the rebels have targeted it.
