Patiala, May 19 (UNI) Congress Lok Sabha member Preneet Kaur today challenged Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to seek a fresh mandate in Punjab to test the " real popularity" of his government, Talking to mediapersons here, she contested the claim of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal that Congress had been routed in the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samitis polls. She alleged that the SAD-BJP government had used force to rig the polls.
She sought imposition of President's rule in Punjab where, she alleged, the law and order had collapsed. She accused the state government of having imposed political emergency and cited cases of Congress workers being booked in "fake" cases by the police.
She alleged that the Chief Minister had plunged the state into bankruptcy because of his incompetence.
Mrs Kaur, the wife of former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh said that the "real test of popularity will come in the next Lok Sabha polls".
