Jalandhar, May 19 (UNI) Congress MLA from Bholath Sukhpal Singh Khaira has urged the custodians of law to take cognizance of all those witnesses who had turned hostile from their earlier statements in the alleged graft case involving Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and his family members.

While giving reference of the recent judgement passed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court division bench headed by Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia, in which the court took suo moto notice of all those witnesses turned hostile in the fake currency case involving SSP Gurcharan Singh Pherurai and recommended an inquiry, Mr Khaira in a press conference here today urged the court at Mohali, High Court and Supreme Court to take cognizance notice of the High Court's observations and punish those who had back tracked from their earlier statements in the alleged graft case involving Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and his family members in the trial court.

"It was astonishing and shocking that in the Badal case even the investigation officer Surinder Pal Singh has turned hostile and resiled from the very case that he made out thus making mockery of law, he said adding that officers ranging from the rank of DIG, SP, DSP, SEs and XENs had resiled from their respective statements under pressure from the prosecution," he alleged.

''Now the Supreme Court has intervened in the matter and stayed the proceedings of the Mohali court, I would urge Chief Justice Vijender Jain to take suo moto notice in the proceedings of the Mohali court and intervene as done in the Gurcharan Singh Pherurai case to ensure justice,''he added.
