Una, May 19: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said that a case had been registered regarding burning of Electricity Department records that allegedly contained chits recommending jobs issued by former chief minister Virbhadra Singh.
Addressing mediapersons here, he said investigations had been ordered and those found guilty would not be spared.
Mr Dhumal said the government was ready to probe into the contents of the audio Compact Disk (CD) released by Vijay Singh Mankotia against the former CM if the court asked the government to do so.
"The previous Congress government led by Virbhadra Singh is synonymous with scams that included fake certificates scam, Virbhadra Singh's land, Gazetteer and jobs on chits scams, Industrial and Hydel Projects allocation scams and the like," he said.
He said the case pertaining to the theft of huge amount of money from the Chief Minister's office during Mr Singh's tenure was also being probed.
Terming the case regarding 161 bighas of land being reportedly usurped by Mr Singh as ''a crime against the government'', he said all those revenue officers who were responsible for the crime would have to face action.
The Chief Minister remarked that Mr Singh was the lone Chief Minister in the country whose audio-CD, containing his misdeeds along with his wife was released during his tenure.
Reacting to the former chief minister's statements that developmental funds in his segment, Rohru had been stopped by the present government, Mr Dhumal ''advised'' his predecessor to read the budget papers, at least pertaining to his own constituency. He said maximum budget in the road sector was allocated to the former CM's constituency.
He also brushed aside Mr Singh's demands seeking a white paper on development in Hamirpur district, saying that the people of the district were smart enough to identify and vote in favour of their well wishers.
He said that the lack of development in the district during the last five years of Congress rule was the reason why the people of the district had negated it during the last Hamirpur Parliamentary by-elections and in the Assembly elections.
Earlier, addressing an election campaign meeting at Bangarh village in Una Assembly segment, he said a compulsory notification had been issued to all industrial units to pay daily regular wages as per government norms to workers in their units.
He said the BJP was a welfare oriented party and would not tolerate victimization of the under-privileged citizens.
